The man who invented the computer mouse, and developed the early form of e-mail and word processing software, Dr. Douglas Engelbart, died last Wednesday in his home in Atherton, California at the age of 88.

His passing was first reported to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California via-e-mail by the late doctor’s daughter, Christina; it was said that it was kidney failure that caused the death of the tech pioneer.
