Get stamped for your phone?

A brand new idea is underway, and it is unknown as of yet if this will hit big with customers, or it will just come off as a little unnerving.

According to a recent article on the Telegraph website, a new technology has been created that will place rubber stamps attached to a user's skin that will unlock their phones. Yes, tattoos and phones have met.

The idea behind the technology is to eliminate the need for passwords to be entered, shared, stolen, and even lost to get into a mobile phone. Instead, the phone just has to be near a simple rubber piece attached to the user.

The rubber "tattoos" as they are being coined, are small, flexible pieces that have been made using the same technology as medical "Biostamps." They have circuits in them and are attached to the skin. Whenever the circuit is picked up on the phone, the mobile phone can be unlocked.

Surprisingly, this is not the first idea of its kind. In fact, Nokia experimented with the idea and technology before, but nothing ever came of it. Motorola, though, has latched on to the idea and seems to be confident it will work.

Another idea being tossed around by Motorola along the same line is to distribute pills that contain electric circuits. A user takes the pill and the electric circuit is exposed in their body when the body eats away at the exterior of the pill. The acid in the stomach powers the chip and connects to the mobile phone.

The pill is not only a concept used for mobile phone technology. It can be used to identify an individual. This pill is taken daily to keep the signal strong, but it is not approved for long term use as of yet.

Motorola has announced only that it is interested in developing the technology for users of Motorola mobile phones. Nothing further is known as of yet.

It's not pupil scan technology, but it is the next best thing. Will it hit big with users?
