Elemantary students make a movie

It is finally finished and ready for viewing.

After eight long months, an Iowa City elementary school team of staff members and students have finally finished and released a five minute movie that they made together, and it has a serious message.

According to an article on kcrg.com, the film made by the staff and students at the Iowa City elementary school is entitled "Stand Up Tall."

The story is of a very small main character who goes through the trials of meeting friends and facing opposition in life.

The film took eight months for the kids to make. The kids working on the project ranged from kindergarten to sixth grade, and some of the staff helped as well. They all wrote the story and the song for the film, created the characters themselves, and even did the animation.

Mark Jones, a teacher at the elementary school, led the project. According to kcrg.com, he wanted to animated for a long time. He stated also that the goal was not originally to create the message that he did. It just ended up working out that way.

Jones said it was a very slow process because less than a second was completed each day. Some of the students were a little unwilling to participate in the project because it was so much work and such a slow process.

The feelings about the film changed quickly, though, and students became more and more excited to see it through.

The message is clear, even if it was not something intended by the students. It has a ring of anti-bullying.

This is an important message in a time where a lot of focus is on bullying and the fight against it.

This is not the first film Jones has created with the elementary students, either. Last year, the film created was entitled "Robot and the Butterfly." It was nearly ten minutes long.
