Police looking for sexual assault suspect

Iowa City Police are looking for information about an individual that is suspected in a sexual assault investigation. The assault happened off-campus to a female University of Iowa student early morning on April 7.



According to a report on the Iowa Now website, a female University of Iowa student was sexually assaulted April 7. She reported the attack to the Iowa City Police Department.

She described her attacker to police as a thin, 6-foot tall light-skinned black man. He was wearing a hat on the night of the attack, according to the victim, who remains unnamed.

The Iowa City police are looking for any information on this case. Anyone who may know something about the attacker or the incident is encouraged to contact Iowa City Crimestoppers or the Iowa City Police Department. The numbers, respectively, are 319-358-TIPS and 319-356-5275.

Crimestopper callers with information that leads to an arrest can potentially be eligible for a monetary award.

The University of Iowa City Police has issued some guidelines for University of Iowa Students to follow in order to remain as safe as possible off campus and off campus as well.

They encourage students, especially females, to not walk around alone at night. They also insist such incidents be reported to police immediately. If you are attacked, call 911 or use any of the emergency telephones on the University of Iowa Campus.
