What Does Iowa City Think of the Decision?

The decision was made, and it affected not only The Vatican, but Catholics all around the world. What does Iowa City think of the decision for the new Pope?

Iowa City has reported that the Catholic churches and schools have been reacting to the decision-making process and the new Pope.

Iowa City Catholics schools have been using the time of selection for the new pope to teach their students about the process and the pope in general. Coursework in some classes has been re-arranged in order to teach students about this event.

The question among Iowa City Catholics has been if the Church would choose a traditional path for the pope, or something different would happen in the selection this time around, since the process was so different this time.

University of Iowa Students have been following the decision as well. They are not in general optimistic about any radical changes being made in the church, even if the selection is an unusual one.

The question of ordaining women has been brought up, but overall, not many are confident that any decision made will change the current position on this matter.

Though Iowa City was not confident about the changes as the decision was being made, the new Pope, named Francis, has proven to already be a very radical individual.

According to a report on the CNN website, he has been quoted as saying "I hope you have not made a mistake," when he was selected to take the place of the recently retired pope.

The report also stated that he received a prayer when he addressed St. Peter's from the people themselves. This is something that is a very uncommon practice.

Even though this pope is not considered to be a radical, he does a lot of work that is not exactly the norm for a conservative Catholic, so maybe the discussion about him being a radical will be in the future, and not just in Iowa City.
