Iowa City Man Choked Wife

Police placed an Iowa City man under arrest after responding to a call that he was allegedly choking his girlfriend until she vomited and lost control of her bladder.

According to an article posted on the Iowa City Patch website, police responded to a woman who called them, claiming that she had been chocked by her husband.

Reports state that the woman called police and told them that she and her husband had been in a fight that had turned into extreme violence.

Her husband had been gone for three hours, and an argument ensued when he returned home over the incident. He allegedly called her daughter a name and the argument escalated into something more physical.

The wife stated that her husband followed her into the bathroom and choked her up against the frame of the door. Her vision went blurry and her eyes rolled back in her head, allegedly. When she fought back, he bit her hands, bruising them. She vomited and lost all control of her bladder.

The police responded from the scene to find that the husband, 27-year-old Malik Meru Alexander, had locked himself in the bedroom and left the house through the window.

Police apprehended Alexander and charged him with domestic abuse assault for knowingly restricting the breathing of his wife. This is a class D felony.

Alexander remains lodged in the Johnson County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash only bond.

Alexander has been previously arrested on a domestic abuse charge in November of 2012.
