Facebook is recently reported to be developing a new app that will help users to find their friends nearby. The standalone application (not a new feature on the platform itself) is designed to help users find their friends in real life, track your location and share it online.
The said app does not yet have a name though, or at least none has been announced yet but it is expected to be officially launched next month.
The upcoming Facebook app is a lot like the location map apps that we know of such as Google’s Latitude and Foursquare but fairly close to Apple’s Find My Friends app. These type of apps are not successful though, since not many people joined in to make the apps useful.
Although Facebook seemed hopeful, with more than a billion users, the advertisement and involvement of these users may just make the new app a new hit.
