A former worker on President Barack Obama's Iowa campaign will be running for his own office in Iowa very soon. The former Iowa State Director for Barack Obama's re-election campaign will be running for Iowa Secretary of State in November 2014.
Brad Anderson, a Democrat who worked on President Obama's campaign, has announced that he will be a candidate for Iowa's secretary of state.
Anderson was a campaign worker in Iowa City when President Barack Obama was campaigning in the state for his re-election in 2012. He served as the Iowa State Director during the re-election campaign.
So far, Anderson has a good amount of support. He even has been backed by two former Iowa governors: Chet Culver and Tom Vilsack.
If Brad Anderson is to win the nomination for the Democratic party, he will be running against the current serving Secretary of State Matt Schultz, who is a Republican. Schultz has not announced whether he will seek re-election for the Secretary of State position in 2014.
Anderson disagrees with Schultz on his relentless efforts against voter fraud. He believes that time and money should be spent elsewhere and that all of the energy would deter voters. His solution is to install an electronic system where voters can check in.
The announcement was made during a press conference held by Anderson at the Capitol.
The Iowa City elections are set to happen in November of 2014. They will include the position of governor, Secretary of State, and other positions as well with the state.
