A big talk among public schools is that of diversity. The Iowa City School Board has decided to not complete this talk just yet, according to an article recently posted on sfgate.com.

They are holding it off in order to listen to the Iowa City community that will be affected by the changes that could take place in the diversity policy.

The Iowa City School Board has been considering a new diversity policy, as the previous one needed amended for various reasons. The vote was scheduled on whether or not the School Board should do this, but it has been pushed back to the end of the week.

Many members of the community have been trying to reach the school board to tell them to slow down the voting process on the diversity policy for various reasons, and the board has decided to listen to them.

The vote to decided upon establishing a new diversity policy is currently scheduled for Saturday and will be pushed back to an undecided date. The meeting will be held, giving the community a chance to speak on several aspects of the new policy that may be of concern to them.

One of these areas is regarding the transportation of students. The new policy will state that students cannot be transported outside their neighborhoods.

The policy change has already passed its first vote, which happened in December. There have to be a total of three votes in order to make the changes happen. The board will listen to the community before it takes another vote.
