Iowa City Woman Hits Boyfriend And His Dog

An Iowa City woman faces charges after an arrest on accusations that she hit her boyfriend and ran over his dog with her car Friday night, then hit her boyfriend with the car in the same altercation.



43-year-old Renee Lynn Glaspie was arrested after a fight with her boyfriend Friday night that led to injuries for her boyfriend as well as his dog.

According to reports, Glaspie punched her boyfriend in the face during the fight and then attempted to drive away in her car. When she attempted to leave in her car, authorities claim that she ran over his dog as she was backing out.

Reports state that Glaspie's boyfriend tried to step out in front of her car and get her attention in order to stop her backing out because she had hit the dog, she put the vehicle in gear and hit her boyfriend with the car. He was knocked to the ground.

Glaspie then allegedly left the scene of what had become a car accident with an injured boyfriend, who sought medical treatment, and an injured animal as well. She was later arrested.

Her boyfriend had a bump on his head, a gash on his elbow, and a limp, according to reports. He was treated for his injuries. It is unknown whether the dog survived the accident.

Glaspie faces a charge of domestic abuse and assault without the intent to cause injury, which is a misdemeanor. She remains lodged in jail on a $15,000 bond.
