The 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show will be featuring a range of brand new TVs, tablets, phones, cameras, audio gear and cars. This much anticipated event is just around the corner, and will be held at Las Vegas next week.
This year's CES will be the world's "biggest innovation event" according to Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). CEA is the body responsible for running this annual event.
The latest in TV technology will be continue to be the major focus of the show, and will be headed by LG, Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp and Sony. Among the exhibits will include 3D TV sets, which were a success last year, as well as ultra high definition 4K TVs which have 4 times the resolution of current HD TVs.
Chip giant Intel will be another large presence at the show. They will be promoting their processors for ultra books, tablets and smart phones. The China tech industry is stepping up to promote its brands, including Hisense, Huawei and ZTE.
Aside from the smart TVs and touch tablets that will be vying for the spotlight, there will a range of other electronics that breathe innovation. Among them include robot window cleaner, a noise cancellation chair, and a digital hearth that acts as both a cooking surface and fireplace.
Microsoft will not be making an appearance this year, backing out after the 2012 CES. Other notable absences include the PC makers Hewlett Packard and DELL, as well as big mobile players Google, HTC and Nokia.
While Apple has never officially been an exhibitor at the show, it's presence is still largely felt, and this year is no exception. Numerous firms will be promoting their iPad and iPhone cases, speaker docks and Apple product accessories, which will be exhibited in large numbers.
CES 2013 is expected to be a huge event. The exhibit space for the show will span a staggering 1.87 million square feet across Sin City. Over 3,260 companies will be present at this year's show, which is more than the record 3,230 exhibitors last year.
Attendance is projected to be as big as last year, with the CES expected to open its doors to more than 150,000 visitors.
