Ice Skate in Iowa City

It is winter, and what would winter be without ice skating? Iowa City will offer free ice skating parties for all ages for three days in Iowa City this month.

From Jan. 11 to Jan. 13, Iowa City will open an area between Dubuque and Linn streets to ice skaters of all ages and all skill levels as a free ice skating rink for anyone in the area that wants to come have some fun.

The rink will be a 32 by 59 foot synthetic ice rink that will be open certain times on all three days. On Jan. 11, it will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Jan. 12 it will be open from noon to 5 p.m. On Jan. 13 it will be again open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will be lit.

Iowa City's Downtown District is responsible for the event with the the help of Big Ten Rentals. There will also be music and food vendors present.

Big Ten Rentals owns the rink that will be opened to the public. They will also be offering free ice skate rentals during the event if you do not have your own.

According to the district, this is a great way to finish out the holiday season for the year when all of the holiday festivities have come to an end.

The rink itself is a very smoothed, seamless synthetic creation that can actually be used year round. It is very safe to skate on and seems just like real ice.
