Iowa Man Faces Charges for Keeping Drugs Around Children

An Iowa City man faces charges after he was arrested on suspicion of keeping drugs and drug paraphernalia  in his home with his wife and children, according to an article released on kcrg.com



40-year-old Michael Robert Uhler was arrested Thursday morning on charges that spurred from a drug investigation.

According to the reports, a tip in February stated that Uhler and his wife had drugs in their home and were doing drugs in their home. The report also stated that they were doing the drugs around their three small children.

Reports state that the couple has children aged 4, 5 and 7. The children had already been removed from the home by the Iowa Department of Human Services. They were removed from the home after the original complaint in February.

The Department of Human Services stated that the children received no harm as a result of the drug use.

After Iowa City police received the report, they attempted to contact Uhler regarding the allegations.

A search turned up some drugs and drug paraphernalia, and Uhler was arrested. The findings were mostly marijuana and cocaine.

Uhler admitted to using the drugs and the paraphernalia that was discovered inside the residence. According to the police, Uhler said that some of the paraphernalia had been in his home for a long period of time.

Uhler's wife's arrest was not announced when her husband's was, and her name was not released.

Uhler is being charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and three charges of child endangerment without injury. He already has a lengthy criminal history in Iowa.

He remains lodged in the Johnson County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond.
