An Iowa City man is facing charges relating to allegedly selling large amounts of marijuana out of his home. This charge was given after an investigation and a search by the Iowa City police.
20-year-old Ricky Garner has been charged with selling large amounts of marijuana out of his apartment after police visited his apartment to question him on accusations of selling drugs and were forced to search it.
According to a report, Iowa City police went to the apartment of Garner to speak with him. When they visited, they were able to see him attempting to hid a bong before answering the door. Police could smell marijuana in the apartment as well.
Reports state that Garner was uncooperative with police officers when they attempted to talk to him, so a warrant had to be obtained in order to gain access to the apartment. Officers searched his apartment after obtaining the warrant and arrested him as a result of the discovery.
The search turned up a large amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as a ledger of transactions and a large amount of cash. The cash totaled over $4,500.
After the search, Garner admitted to selling marijuana and having the drugs and money hidden in his apartment. He was then arrested on the findings from his apartment.
Garner faces charges of possession with intent to deliver, keeping a drug house, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges are, respectively, a Class D felony, an aggravated misdemeanor, and a simple misdemeanor.
