Hoover Elementary School has recently experienced problems with cockroaches, but according to an article on kcrg.com, school officials have said that the problem is now under control and the roaches are no longer being spotted.
According to a report from the school's interim principal John Saehler, no live cockroaches have been spotted to his knowledge in the building since Thanksgiving and the problem has probably been solved.
Reports have stated that a full extermination was called in December 1 and yet another is scheduled to happen this weekend to be sure that all the roaches have been eliminated from the building.
More treatments will be scheduled when the students officially go on winter break in addition as precautionary measures to be sure that there will be no more roaches in the school. These should completely eliminate any remaining roaches that have not been seen yet and make sure that the problem has been solved.
Other measures are being taken as well to make sure that the roaches do not spread if there are any remaining or do not return. Food is being stored and handled much more carefully in the classrooms.
The problem was addressed when a staff member reported seeing 50 cockroaches in a single classroom. This led to a need for something to be done about the problem, and the exterminations being called in.
The County Public Health Department has confronted the issue and will return for a follow-up in January, after the exterminations have all taken place.
