One of the four teenagers that were accused in the Iowa City robbery last month is being charged with an unrelated theft crime that was recently discovered.
18-year-old Shakila A. Holder of Iowa City was charged with driving suspects from a crime scene after she operated the getaway car in a recent armed robbery where three other teens were involved.
Holder now faces other charges in addition to the ones she faced upon her arrest in relation to the armed robbery. She has allegedly helped someone steal over $100 from the Dollar General where she worked.
According to kcrg.com, loss prevention told police they discovered surveillance footage of Holder allowing merchandise to be taken from the store without payment for any of it.
The store staff looked at the footage because a large number of voided items were discovered on the records. She was seen, according to the report, scanning items and then voiding the transaction so that no payment had to be made.
The accomplice in the crime has not been identified.
According to a complaint, at least $100 in items was stolen, but it is not known exactly how much because some of the items stolen were not even scanned.
Holder faces a charge of fifth-degree theft in addition to the second-degree theft and accessory to a felony that she was already facing from the armed robbery. She also attempted to conceal evidence and lied to officers.
Holder did not have much of a criminal record before these recent charges.
