Iowa City Landlord Accused of Peeping on Tenants

A landlord in Iowa City has been charged with invasion of privacy after he has been accused of peeping on some of his female tenants when they were in the showers.

63-year old Elwyn Gene Miller is the landlord of the apartment complex located at 639 South Lucas Street in Iowa City.

According to an article released on thegazette.com, a woman contacted police at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning and stated that a man had been peeping on her after she had been in the shower.

The woman got the impression that it was her landlord and identified the suspect to the police as Elwyn Miller.

When the police confronted Miller, he admitted to peeping into the woman's bathroom through a hole in the ceiling and watching her in the shower.

Miller admitted to peeping on other women as well during an interview, according to the police report.

Miller even went so far as stating that he was "not interested in them as persons but because they were women and naked," according to thegazette.com.

If more women are identified as victims of Miller's peeping, he could face more than just the one count of invasion of privacy. He has at least three more apartment buildings in Iowa City in addition tot he 12 units in the Lucas Street building, so there is a potential for many victims.

Miller is believed to have been peeping on the victims for a while, so there is a potential for many victims to step forward, and also the possibility of victims he was watching that never knew it.

Miller has been released because he does not have a criminal history in Iowa City.
