Iowa City Lending a Helping Hand

Just because Iowa City is not right in the middle of what is one of the most devastating hurricanes in a long time does not mean that Iowa City is not affected.

The storm has affected people all over the nation, and now, three men from Iowa City are giving back by going to New York and helping bring back power to some of the millions of people that have lost their power due to the storm.

Robin Rowler, Dave Shultz, and Matt Rittenmeyer work for MidAmerican Energy Co. The company has formed a crew composed of 14 men that will go to New York to help get the poles and transformers up so that people will be able to have power again.

The team is made up of a design technician, 12 linemen, and a supervisor. The team is equipped to help turn the power back on for many homes. The men make up a team from various areas throughout Iowa, including Iowa City.

The incredibly destructive hurricane has left over 8 million people with no power at all in various locations through the East Cost, mostly in New Jersey and New York.

According to the men, a call was sent out for help from power companies all over the United States, and the men responded with their power company.

The men are meeting in Iowa City to depart for New York on their mission. They are planning for what could be a very trying journey, a trip that could last up to 2 whole weeks. The days will be very long for the men as well.

The men are not sure where they will be staying when they arrive. It may be hotel, but it could very easily be makeshift bunks set up for them just so they will have a place to sleep.

Many have had experience with storms before, but none have had experience with working in hurricane after math until now.

The hurricane has done an unbelievable amount of damage to the people on the East Coast, and the power restoration is only a small part of the help efforts for the millions of people affected. Even this task, though, will take many men and women volunteers.
