The presidential debate brought a lot of confusion and doubts more than anything from liberals supporting Obama, not due to the lack of information, but due to the lack of hard hits on Mitt Romney.
Some are thinking that this debate in Iowa City may have been a gain for Mitt Romney and not for Obama.
According to an article on the Alaska Dispatch website about the debate, the main part of the 90-minute debate was spent trying to inform the public by Obama, and trying to win people over by Romney.
The debate, according to viewers, seemed to be made up of long, rambling speeches on both parts that frequently went off-topic. They both gave a lot of information, but gave little about their own positions and plans of action.
Mitt Romney tried to seem more like a caring human being. He attempted to shed the image that has been given to him previously by talking quite a bit about how much he cared about the middle class.
The group that attended the debate were mostly Iowa City liberals, so their attention was more on the president. They expressed a lot of disappointment in Obama's performance because he did little to challenge Romney.
Instead, the president tried to focus more on the actual issues that were being discussed in the debate. He did not even attempt to say anything to Romney when the governor attacks his clean energy bill.
Because of this, many believe that the debate was a victory for Mitt Romney, even though he did nothing but lie. Surveys seem to be proving this as well, as Romney is gaining slightly in the race.
It is argued that Romney did not necessarily win the argument, but Obama lost it due to his passiveness and lack of challenges to Romney when there was so much that he could say.
