Not long after the recent presidential visit to Iowa City, the University of Iowa is gearing up for another chaotic weekend. This time, it is because this weekend is University of Iowa's homecoming.
According to kcrg.com, thousands of people have come to Iowa City to join the college in its homecoming festivities this weekend and more will surely come in time for the game tomorrow.
Every year, thousands of fans and many Hawkeye alums come back to the historical city to enjoy homecoming weekend and all of the festivities. This weekend will prove to be no different.
They started up today with the yearly University of Iowa parade. People lined the streets to enjoy the parade and the concert following the parade. Matt & Kim and Grand Funk Railroad were scheduled to follow the parade by performing on the Pentacrest.
The homecoming game will be Saturday. They will play against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at their own Kinnick Stadium. They have a winning record of homecoming games, and even though Minnesota will be a tough game, they are confident that they can keep up the morale of the team.
This weekend is expected to be busy and Iowa City is already gearing up for it. Thankfully, though, it will be nothing compared to the recent weekend of chaos when President Obama visited and the Hawkeyes hosted their rivals in the same weekend.
Still, there will be thousands of people coming to the city to support the Hawkeyes again this year.
