More has come up in the investigation that spurred from a sexual assault report at a University of Iowa fraternity house. This is the most recent of many calls to the fraternity house since 2007.
Iowa City police have discovered that 28 calls have come regarding the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house in the last five years, according to thegazette.com
Although not all of the calls led to arrests, citations or any charges, many were. Four were investigative in nature, similar to the recent sexual assault report that was filed on Sept. 11 after police responded to the house around 10 p.m.
According to the investigation, the alleged sexual assault actually happened two days before. The visit to the fraternity house was a follow-up call. All that has been released thus far is that the victim is a white female of age and is possibly injured as a result.
Some of the other calls involved hazing allegations that were made. The University of Iowa imposed sanctions on the hazing, and the University of Iowa police were contacted. Lesser calls involved loud parties, criminal mischief, and even vandalism.
No arrests have been made thus far in the sexual assault case that is ongoing. The house was closed this week by the fraternity headquarters because of hazing and failure to comply with fraternity standards. All members were expelled from the fraternity. The University of Iowa has announced that they are investigating the hazing as well.
There is no evidence of any connection of relation between the closing and the sexual assault allegations.
