Romney Hosts Phone Conference in Iowa

Romney hosted a call in "town hall" telephone conference for Iowans today. During the conference, he stated that he will have to "come down hard" on the president during the future debates about claims regarding his tax policy.

According to an article on the Des Moine Register Website, Romney's telephone conference lasted a little over 20 minutes. He took a lot of questions about various topics, including foreign policy, taxes, and Medicare.

Another major topic during the conference was the negative ads coming from the opposition. Romney stated that he had not known about the ads being issued and would have to refute the claims in them.

Romney also noted that he has the chance to debate. He stated that President Obama would probably bring up some of what was said in the ads, and he would have to "come down hard" on him, telling him that the claims were not at all true.

Romney went on to refute the actual complaints in the ads that stated he would cut millionaire taxes and raise costs for the middle class. He stated that he would not raise taxes for anyone and would lower them for the middle class. He also stated that he would not cut funding from the government programs.

When questions asked for more detail, stating that media complaints were surrounding this as well, Romney recommended a download of his book to see the list, again passing up the chance to actually tell any details that are part of his tax reform plan.
