A doctor from Muscatine, Iowa is facing unusual charges. He has been charged with three counts of distributing controlled substances because he allegedly traded prescriptions for sexual favors.
According to kcrg.com, Dr. David Gierlus, doctor in Muscatine from Illinois and a family practitioner for Trinity Muscatine, has been charged with three counts of distributing controlled substances in return for sexual favors from over 30 women.
Dr. Gierlus has been practicing medicine since 1987. He has no criminal history, according to records.
According to reports, the doctor prescribed Adderall, Xanax, Valium, Vicodin, and other prescription drugs in exchange for a variety of sex acts, including oral sex and intercourse in the office and outside of it as well. This happened many times with many women.
During the investigation, the Muscatine Police Department recorded one of the appointments where this occurred. Allegedly, the doctor exposed his genitals, kissed the woman, and then gave her $150 and a generic Adderall prescription.
The report from the woman included a statement she made saying she sold the pills on the street and the doctor knew about this. The investigation uncovered reports from the women that received the pills from the doctor and evidence of him giving the pills to women for sex a total of over 100 times.
Gierlus was arrested, but released on bond. He is no longer seeing patients. His license will expire in March of 2013. Trinity Health Systems has stated that they will take action against the doctor in the case.
