Police have apprehended a man that is accused of breaking into several cars in Iowa City early Monday without any shorts. According to reports, he ditched his shorts while he was running from police.
A little after midnight on Monday, a man was reported breaking into vehicles. Witnesses reported that the man was wielding a knife and had left a car door open to run in the opposite direction.
When the police found the man a few blocks from the reported incident, he ran from them. They chased him down the road and apprehended him, but he was not wearing any shorts at the time he was captured by police.
During the pursuit, the man had removed his shorts, according to the Des Moines Register website. Police found his shorts and searched them. Apparently, he had removed his shorts because stolen items were in the pockets and he was attempting to hide the loot.
Reports stated that the man had entered four vehicles with a knife and damaged others as well, possibly trying to enter them. A breath test revealed the man had a blood alcohol level of .16 percent.
The man has been identified as 19-year old Cole S. Huisenga from Souix City and is facing several charges. He is being charged with five counts of third degree burglary and four of attempted third degree burglary, one count of carrying a weapon, one count of second-degree criminal mischief, public intoxication, and interference with official acts.
Huisenga remains in custody.
