The man accused of fatally shooting a City High graduate in Iowa City this June returned to Johnson County Jail Thursday evening from Cook County to face charges of first degree murder in connection with the shooting.
27-year-old Brandon Brown was booked into Johnson County Jail on Thursday evening. He was discovered in Cook County, Illinois and arrested, then waived extradition on August 22. He was taken back to Johnson County Jail to face the first degree murder charge for the shooting.
Brown faces charges in connection with shooting 30-year-old Donelle Derrel Lindsey of Iowa City. He made his initial court appearance on Friday via television after returning to Johnson County.
According to kcrg.com, Brown is now being held in Johnson County Jail. His bond is set at $1 million.
According to reports, Brown asked Lindsey to walk with him down the road in Iowa City on June 21 at around 11:30 p.m., then the two began to argue. Brown then pulled out a handgun and shot Lindsey multiple times at a close range.
Lindsey was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals, where he later died from the gunshot wounds. Witnesses positively identified Brown as the shooter in a lineup before he fled Iowa.
Brown fled the location to Holland, Ill. He was discovered there at the home of a friend after investigators received a tip that he was in the area. He was arrested without incident and taken to Cook County Jail, where he was given the option to waive extradition.
