Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In

The third person in connection with the recent shooting in a trailer park east of Iowa City has turned himself in and appeared in court.



According to thegazette.com, 20-year old Norman Dudley was not apprehended after the shootout even though he is believed to be linked to a drug investigation that led to the shootout and the shootout itself.

Dudley turned himself in on Sunday night and appeared i court Monday to face the charges. Information has finally been released about the investigation relating to a drug purchase and the events that stemmed from it.

He is being charged with a felony controlled substance violation after he purchased over 14 grams of cocaine from an undercover officer hear an Iowa City Kmart. This purchase made a total of $950.

During the investigation that spurred from the purchase, a group of officers and a task force went to a trailer park east of Iowa City. They were undercover and pretended to be planning to buy illegal drugs. The suspects knew and this is where the shootout took place.

22-year old Ivan Hardemon died during the incident, allegedly of gunshot wounds. Details of his involvement have not been made public.

Dudley's 22-year old brother Demarco Dudley was shot as well, but picked up later and treated for his injuries. He faces a charge of first degree robbery stemming from the shooting that occurred and remains in jail.

A fourth man in connection with the incident was apprehended Friday night. 20-year old John Mulbah was wanted for questioning and was taken in after a four hour standoff. He faces a felony controlled substance violation as well.

The names of the officers were not made public, and two have been put on paid administrative leave after the shooting. Authorities are continuing the investigation.
