The teenager who robbed a pizza delivery driver in April of this year has finally been arrested. Authorities have apprehended a 16-year old suspect after an investigation.
16-year old Daniel L. Hodges of Iowa City allegedly called in a pizza delivery order to Papa John's on April 23. The delivery was to be on Deforest Avenue, according to the Des Moines Register website, even though that is not where he lives.
The delivery driver got to the address to find Hodges with what was believed to be a weapon in a grocery sack, demanding money from her and threatening harm to her if she did not give it.
According to police reports, Hodges told the woman she had five seconds to give him money. If she did not, he would shoot her in the head. Hodges only left the robbery with $20 in cash and two pizza bags.
Authorities were contacted about the robbery. The investigation developed Hodges as a suspect and the delivery driver gave a report, despite alleged threats from Hodges. According to reports, he contacted her on August 2 and told her that she should not show up in court if she gave a statement to the police.
Hodges was apprehended this week and faces two charges for the incident. He is charged with first-degree robbery, which is a class B felony, and tampering with a witness, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.
His court date is not yet set, but he will be charged as an adult. He remains lodged, and his bond is set at $50,500.
