Iowa City Students Making Movies

Three University of Iowa graduates have changed the reputation of Iowa City with the creation of a film company that is now on its third full-length movie. They are filming scenes for their movies all over Iowa City.

Joe Clarke, one of the co-directors, is confident about the success of the company and expresses his joy about how things are going. The company is growing quickly. The three producers have jobs, so they have to work around them to get the movies filmed.

According to souixcityjournal.com, three students have founded Backrow Studios. It has already produced two films: "Kung Fu Graffiti" and "The Wedge," which have done fairly well. "The Wedge" even took home three Iowa movie awards.

The company is on its third film, which is to be called "The Formula." It is supposed to premier in December, and be on a much deeper level than the previous two movies that were filmed. This one is believed to be the best film that the company has made to date. It is still a low-budget film, but the goal is to make it meet industry standards.

"The Formula" is a romantic comedy based on 20-something love and angst. It is about two engineering students who apply a formula to pick up women and what unfolds from the idea. It will even feature some Hollywood actors this time around instead of just local talent.

The eventual goal is to make the company successful enough to be able to make movies for a living so that none of them will have to work additional full-time jobs.
