Authorities have issued a subpoena for an interview with the mother of one of the two missing Iowa girls from KWWL-TV, a Waterloo-based television station, claiming it could help their investigation.
According to bradenton.com, the television station announced that they received a subpoena for the entire footage of an interview conducted with Misty Morrissey, the mother of 10-year old Lyric Cook.
The station conducted the interview with Morrissey. Morrissey's mother, Wylma Cook, was seated alongside her in the interview, but she did not speak. She was watching the girls the day of the disappearance.
In the interview, Morrissey explains her sudden halt of cooperation with authorities due to the legal advice she and her estranged husband were given. She stated her belief that she was being given the attention due to her record.
After the interview, Morrissey resumed cooperation and took a polygraph test in order to prove she was not involved with the disappearance in any way.
The Black Hawk County authorities state that the entire footage is needed in order for them to perform a complete investigation in the case of 10-year old Lyric Cook and her cousin 8-year old Elizabeth Collins, who disappeared from a bike ride near Evansdale on July 13.
Authorities have called the case an abduction after an extensive search for their bodies turned up nothing, and they are still looking for any information that they can get relating to the case that may lead to facts and suspects.
The station director, Dan Schillinger, stated that the station would be cooperating with the investigation and giving the full footage of the interview to them, even though they do not have outtakes of the footage, as those are not kept.
At this point, Daniel and Misty Morrissey may be people of interest, but they have not been deemed as suspects.
