The mother of one of the missing Iowa City girls has taken a polygraph test that she states will prove her innocence in the case.
Misty Cook-Morrissey, the mother of 10-year old Lyric and aunt of 8-year old Elizabeth Collins has been under suspicion since she and her estranged husband stopped cooperating with police on the investigation in attempt to find the two missing girls.
The investigation turned into Cook-Morrissey and her husband after the two because they both had extensive criminal backgrounds. The two were being monitored by authorities.
According to Kentucky.com, Cook-Morrissey took a polygraph test on Monday with a state agent. She was asked if she had anything to do with the disappearances and told the agent that she did not.
She is confident that the results of the polygraph test will show that she was being honest and has nothing to do with the case so that they can move on to other suspects.
The two girls disappeared near Evansdale after going for a bike ride. Their bikes were discovered near the lake. After volunteers performed an extensive search in the lake, they ruled that the girls were missing and not dead.
There was an individual that was paddle boating around the lake at the time of the girls' disappearance and are looking for this person. So far, nobody has voluntarily come forward for questioning.
Elizabeth's parents have cooperated thus far with the investigation completely. The sudden lack of cooperation on the part of Cook-Morrissey and her husband brought tension between the families.
