Two girls' bikes in Iowa were found abandoned near a lake by Evansdale and the girls to whom they belonged have not been seen. Investigators have not found any clues, but the search continues nonetheless.
The two girls, 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins and 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey, are cousins. They were reported missing and the bikes were discovered at Meyers Lake a few hours after. Elizabeth's purse and cell phone were also discovered a short distance from the bikes.
Lyric's mother believes that the girls may have been swimming at the lake, but thus far there is no evidence to support the matter other than the fact that she says her daughter is a good swimmer.
The girls' parents have told them they are too young to venture very far, so the incident is rare. Elizabeth's mother believes that her cousin may have persuaded her if the two girls went swimming in the lake.
About 40 percent of the lake has been searched, according to authorities as stated on washingtonpost.com. Family, friends, and registered sex offenders have all been questioned thus far as well.
Even though no clues have been discovered, they are still searching for any evidence. They are attempting anything that they can to find clues. They are "grasping for straws," according to the sheriff's deputy of Black Hawk County.
More than 350 volunteers in Iowa have joined in the search for the girls. They expect the number of volunteers to decrease as people get back to work and the search drags on.
