The famous "voice of reason" as he has been called during the last presidential campaign has come under recent scrutiny due to a recent statement that he made in a campaign ad.
Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, more commonly known as "Joe the Plumber" recently argued in one of his campaign ads that gun control was what caused the Holocaust. Naturally, this statement has caused quite an uproar.
Wurzelbacher is running for Congress in the state of Ohio this year, but is a national figure and model of the conservative Republican wing that has opposed Obama since his first presidential run 4 years ago.
Now, it is Wurzelbacher's attempt at politics, though, and not his arguments about them that has brought him under fire. His ad campaigns referring to gun control have lost some support with history teachers all over the state and all over the nation as well because he is a public figure and much of his campaign funds have come from states other than Ohio.
In the ad, Wurzelbacher indirectly blames gun control for the Holocaust as he is shooting at vegetables. At the end of the ad, as the Time News Feed website states, Wurzelbacher turns back to the camera and smiles, stating, "I love America."
Many have expressed disapproval of the ad, and a Democratic candidate in Ohio who happens to be Jewish has called for an apology. Even though his ad has caused quite a stir among the Democrats and the Jewish population, many Republicans in Ohio are still behind him.
