Cedar Rapids Sold Winning Powerball Ticket

The recent Powerball drawing hit a total of $241 million dollars in winnings, and it was sold. Even though the ticket has not yet been claimed, it has been sold. It was sold to someone in Cedar Rapids.



According to Iowa Lottery officials, the Powerball for this most recent drawing, which took place on the 13th of June, but nobody has claimed the prize as of yet. The ticket was sold, though.

The Iowa Lottery officials traced the winning ticket to a Hy-Vee convenience store located in Cedar Rapids. The Hy-Vee location will get a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

According to Iowa Lottery Chief Executive Officer Terry Rich, the amount of money that has been won is life-changing and should not be taken lightly. He has advised the ticket holder to sign their name on the ticket so that nothing happens to their winnings.

The Lottery works in an unusual way. The winner actually doesn't have to take all of the money at once. In fact, there are two options. A lump sum will end the winner with $112 million after taxes if it is taken as a lump sum. The total amount will be given if it is taken over a longer period of time.

The Powerball is made of 5 numbers and a Powerball number that gives additional winnings. This drawing yielded the numbers 7, 10, 14, 33 and 57 and the Powerball number of 18.

The prize winnings have to be claimed by mailing in a winner claim form to Des Moines, Iowa. The address can be found on the lottery website.
