Man Stabbed Friday Night in Iowa City

Iowa City police are searching for information related to a man that is potentially involved in a stabbing that occurred a little after 9:30 p.m. on Friday night. Only one man was injured during the incident, and one man is being looked for after it.

Police reported to a a call made on Friday night for an incident that was happening on Burns Avenue and Taylor Drive in Iowa City. The people involved in the situation fled before the police were able to apprehend anyone, but the victim later called for help.



The victim was later found after he called 911 for assistance. He was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of the stab wounds. None of the injuries he received were life-threatening, and he is in recovery.

The police received information about a person of interest. 31-year old Javoni M. Butler is a black male standing about 5'7" and weighing about 195 pounds. He is believed to be attempting to flee the area in order to return to Chicago. According to kcrg.com, he was last seen wearing dark colored shorts and a shirt.

Police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for any information given about Butler or his whereabouts. Information about the stabbing incident itself is also needed, and police will offer rewards for this as well.
